baptism

hola friends,

this blog entry will be my last for at least 40 days. i have decided to, once again, be baptized. i say "once again" because i have already gone through the process of baptism when i was 11 years old.

this decision is not something i am taking lightly, in fact just the opposite is true. it is actually something i have been thinking about for quite some time now. i can't really say why it is now that i've decided to be baptized once again, but i believe there is no better time than the present.

god has been showing me new things over the past couple of years and i have come to a firm faith in the lordship of jesus over my life. i have come to discard the way of cheap grace and have embraced the path of discipleship.

i have come to take hold of a faith that is costly and life-changing. for these reasons i am repenting in the presence of friends and family of my former way of life. for these reasons i am proclaiming that i have embraced the other-worldly way of jesus the messiah and the kingdom he came to inaugurate.

immediately following my baptism i will be fasting from tv and the internet for 40 days. i am seeking to follow jesus in every way, and i believe that begins with his baptism and 40 days of fasting in the desert. therefore, i say farewell to mindless entertainment for a while to see what god will do with the empty space that will be left from all the noise pollution in my brain.

i know that no one will really even notice that i am gone from this blog-o-dave, but i hope that you will all keep me in your prayers.

for those of you who know my email address, i will continue to respond to emails, but that will be the extent of my internet usage.
